FSX Tactical Air Command F-15

FSX Tactical Air Command F-15. A repaint of Nathan Fife's McDonnell Douglas F15 Strike Eagle. The first F-15s were delivered to TAC (Tactical Air Command) in "Air Superiority Blue" livery. This paint scheme is of TAC #1. After a short while it was determined that a two-tone gray camouflage was less visible in the gray skies over Europe. The F-15 was conceived and developed just like its nominal predecessor, the F-111, which was another development of the USAF Tactical Air Command (TAC). Click here to download now.

Just Flight R44 Released

Just Flight is pleased to announce the release of its R44 helicopter for Flight Simulator X and 2004. This latest addition to the prestigious Flying Club hangar has been developed by the same team as the rest of the critically-acclaimed Flying Club series. It is packed with features and is now available to download exclusively from Just Flight's web site.

Just Flight's Marc Siegel commented: "The real R44 is the World's most popular GA helicopter and we're confident that our Flying Club R44 will have similar success is the FS world."

The high level of detail in the Flying Club R44 is the result of extensive research and testing using real-world aircraft and the simulation comes with an authentic set of instruments, 2D and 3D cockpits, realistic avionics and a wide range of liveries. You can fly with British, American, German, Swiss, Dutch and French registrations. In fact, there are a total of 221 variations to choose from! The aircraft is supplied with a set of unique tools to customise and enhance your flying experience.

Key features

  • Includes the skid equipped R44 Raven II, and the Fixed Utility and Emergency Float equipped R44 Clipper II.
  • Authenticity on the ground as well as in the air! With the engine off and the 'park' icon clicked, the pilot and passenger figures are removed, the manoeuvring wheels are in place on the skids and the main rotor tie down is secured to the rotor and the rotor moves up and down gently in the breeze.
  • Top quality custom sound set for interior and exterior created from recordings of the real aircraft.
  • FSX version uses textures with the latest specular reflections and bump mapping as well as FSX-style gauge night lighting. You can actually see (and count) the individual rivets!
  • A realistic animated pilot figure - he moves as the controls move. Passengers also move their heads to look around.
  • Operating emergency floats allows you to lift off from a hard surface and fly along with the floats packed. You can deploy the floats, which will pop out inflated, and then land on any water surface.
  • Unique in-sim two-sided checklist. Read through the first page and then click to turn it over! The checklist shows the normal operations checklists and theoperational limitations.
  • Custom flight model is incredibly accurate and reflects the performance of the real aircraft as closely as possible in FSX (SP2). Users of the FS2004/FSX/FSXSP1 version can still take advantage of the SP2 flight model by choosing an 'Expert' option on their R44.
  • FSX version includes multiple additional views taking advantage of the new FSX view system.
  • Highly immersive virtual cockpit with mouse-clickable instruments, levers and knobs; operating cyclic and collective with throttle and mixture controls. An accurate 2D cockpit is also included.
  • Collective, passengers and GPS can be hidden to provide a clearer view of the instruments and controls in the VC.
  • Animation is state-of-the-art and includes main and tail rotor rotations and pitch, swash plates, tail rotor pedals, cyclic control, collective and rotary throttle, all four cabin doors and port/starboard engine bay access doors that animate and come with fully detailed interiors.
  • Detail extends to small but important items like the door hinges, door air vents (they even open and close), NAV radio antennas, detailed rotor heads, skid wheel attachment points, fuel caps, navigation lights, operating emergency landing lights; even the door handles work!
  • The R44 even features altimeters that change from Milibars to Inches indications in the pressure setting window, depending on which international settings have been selected in Flight Simulator.
  • AeroPaint texture utility allows users to create new custom liveries of the aircraft or edit the existing ones using a proprietary painting program such as Microsoft Paint.
  • Comprehensive colour illustrated PDF electronic manual is included that covers aircraft description, panel and gauge descriptions, Avionics description and operation and the realistic in-sim checklist shows the normal operations checklist and operation limitations. Announcing FSNightingale

It's a shame that 'autogen' just isn't smart enough, or have enough data, to place all your local roads and buildings just where they really are. Its an even greater shame that it sometimes places trees right on the runway threshold, but you've got to admit it, whatever continent, whatever the time, whatever the weather, FS2004 and FSX both do a great job of giving us something to look at until we reach the top of our descent.

Now, if you use a product like the 'Matrox - Triple Head To Go', or if you've replaced the Microsoft scenery with your favourite VFR photographic scenery, then added a high resolution terrain mesh to boot, you've got such a good visual flight setup that you've gone and created yourself a dilemma.

You're nearing your destination. You want to have a look for the Visual Reference Point that marks your entry into the CTA, you want to because you can, because you've got the scenery that can. So you press 'W' - world view. You need to take a look at your IAS so you can lower your flaps, so you press 'W' - instruments. You need to check your position on your downwind leg. You press 'W' - world view. You need to check your prop RPM. You press 'W' - instruments.

OK, OK, but you see my point. 'World view' has always been a frustration of mine. I don't want to keep hitting 'W' to make a choice between instruments with a porthole view of the world outside, or a clear view of the sky but with no instruments.

I want to know my IAS and the prop RPM, and I want to use World View to keep a watchful eye on all you would be TCAS alerts.

And by the way, I want those extra frames per second that World View gives you, all of the time.

FSNightingale displays your aircraft instruments on a second PC, allowing you to run your FSX or FS2004 PC, whatever your setup, in full screen mode all of the time.

FSNightingale 1.0 - Cessna 6 is the first version of FSNightingale to be released and is free to download and use!

A New Perspective On Spaceflight In A New Era

(Norfolk, VA) From the beginning of time, humans have always had a fascination with the stars and universe. Fueled by man's natural curiosity and creativity, we have found ways of exploring the stars, exploring the unknown, and dreaming about ways of exploring the universe.

Today, that fascination continues, and is often sparked by advances in science and technology, however, most of us aren't as fortunate to be able to experience what it is like to travel into the vastness of outer space, and that desire and fascination with the stars and the universe and in the science behind it all fades and is overshadowed by other things. Little do people know that there are avenues available to them that will allow them to experience what it is like to be able to travel into outer space, study the stars, learn more about the scientific and mathematical concepts behind astronomy, space exploration, and space flight. Today, a new avenue has been opened to the world through the United Aeronautics and Spaceflight Organization (UASO), the first organization designed to re-spark the interest in people of all ages in astronomy and space exploration.

What is the United Aeronautics and Spaceflight Organization? The UASO is an online virtual space agency open to people ages 16 and older that have a deep and serious interest in astronomy and space exploration. Though there have been other online organizations like it in the past, the UASO pushes for maximum realism in what it does. Some of the organizations activities include launching manned and unmanned spacecraft into space and safely landing them back on earth (all done in real-time), designing aircraft that could be built and flown in real life, and testing them, as well as at the same time, teaching those involved the science and math associated with Spaceflight and aeronautics, giving them a better understanding of the world around them and keeping their interest in science and mathematics alive. All of this is made possible by the various programs and simulators that we utilize allowing us to realistically replicate an actual space agency.

What is our plan to educate our members? From the moment a prospective member signs up to join the organization, the education process begins. Before being allowed to participate in the "bread and butter" of everyday UASO space flight and aeronautical operations, members are required to read and retain basic and fundamental information in the areas of physical science, earth science, and aeronautical science. All information is broken down into terms that anyone who is interested in our organization can understand. Once that individual successfully completes the basics and fundamentals part of the signup process, that member is allowed to pursue the "career" that he or she chose at the beginning of the signup process. Once that person begins to pursue that area, additional advanced training is administered and knowledge retention is maintained throughout that person's career with the UASO.

What jobs are available to those who wish to be a member of the UASO? The UASO has many career paths to choose from. For those who are interested solely in aeronautics and aviation may become pilots, eventually working their way up through the ranks to become a test pilot, flying the most cutting edge aircraft ever designed. For those more interested in space flight and exploration, a plethora of career paths are open to explore and enjoy. For those who wish to feel the excitement of launching into space and performing an actual mission, becoming an UASO Astronaut is the job for you. If you enjoy solving complex problems and challenges associated with a space flight mission, then becoming a UASO Mission Controller is the best choice for you. If you are more inept and capable in an administrative and managing position or have a skill or set of skills or have an interest in a specific field of astronomy, then working within one of our departments as a support staff member is right down your alley. Whatever interest you have, we can incorporate it into our organization. Creativity is the tool that will propel us to do bigger better things, and it keeps our interest at peak levels. All members are given an environment to be creative, test their ideas, and stimulate more ideas and theories, whilst educating at the same time.

So, do you have what it takes to start a virtual career in one of the most realistic virtual space agencies to date, or are you interested in becoming a member and finding out more information about the UASO? If so, then you are invited to check out our web site located at http://www.vuaso.org or contact the UASO Executive Board Director Kayamone Sutton at ksutton@vuaso.org. As stated before, all persons age 16 or over are welcome to join. Those who are under the age of 16 must obtain a waiver from a UASO Board Director via personal interview. Due to the nature of the hobby and the time and demands placed on UASO members, only special consideration will be given to individuals under the age of 16 who possess skills and/or traits that may be valuable or useful to the organization and who can prove capable and willing to accept the responsibilities bestowed on them by them, per their membership to this organization.

Join the UASO today and help us "Lead the Way!" in the exploration of space!

Announcing Ultimate Water FX

Zinertek is pleased to officially announce Ultimate Water FX for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. If there's one thing that has always kept FS2004 from taking that next step towards realism, it is water effects.

Over the years we have seen many wonderful scenery, mesh and texture enhancements bring realism in FS2004 to a new level when flying over land. Unfortunately, the water effects have always left much to be desired. After trying just about every freeware and payware water enhancement out there, we came to the conclusion that FS2004 sorely needed to take that next step towards realism.

After many months of development, we can proudly say that you will soon be able to experience the most realistic water effects ever created for FS2004.

With this new product all bodies of water including rivers, lakes, seas and oceans come to life like never before.

Included in the package will be two different types of water effects. You can choose between realistic or reflective water effects. Choose whichever suits your taste! Either way, water in FS2004 will come to life before your eyes!

By now you are probably thinking if your system will be able to run these water effects smoothly. The answer, is yes! These water effects were designed within the confines and limitations of FS9's graphics engine. It wasn't easy, folks. After all, we are dealing with graphics technology that is almost 5 years old.

These new water effects were created from scratch with performance in mind to give you the best possible quality and frame rate. To run these new water effects all you need is a Microsoft® DirectX® 9.0 compliant video card. In fact, chances are that you already have one installed in your PC or laptop so you are pretty much set! Aside from that, there are no additional system requirements or processing power in order to run these water effects at max detail.

PSS Has Ceased Trading

In an attempt to halt the current speculation surrounding Phoenix Simulation Software, the closure of their web site and the lack of response to support and emails, I would like to make public the following statements.

PHOENIX SIMULATION SOFTWARE
REGRET TO ANNOUNCE

That the Company and web site have ceased trading.

PSS have experienced severe difficulties both of a personal and financial level that unfortunately at this time cannot be remedied. The financial difficulties are mainly caused by the individuals who preferred to use sites like pirate bay instead of paying to support the growth and continuation of PSS and then clogging up our forums with technical support queries for products you don't actually own , You know who you are! As a result of this former CEO Graham Waterfield has been left with no alternative but the closure of the company and early retirement.

However, I Antony Waterfield son of Graham along with an investment consortium are in the process of establishing a new company and acquiring the rights, intellectual property & existing customer base from PSS in order that we may keep the company alive and progress it to a higher level. This will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Improved more user friendly web site/ product catalogue.
  • Improved technical support sytem including knowledge base and ticketing.
  • Upgrade existing products to FSX where possible.
  • Development of further Expansion products for Fs2004/FSX

In the mean time a limited version of the former PSS web site system will be available shortly so existing customers can gain access to previously purchased products and we are taking steps to reintroduce a basic temporary technical support system.

I would like to personally thank the Avsim staff, Tom Allensworth, Robert Kirkland along with John Room, Rob Elliot, Ben Jones etc. for their continued effort supporting the users of PSS products in the forums during this outage.

Based on the real-world Garmin 1000 glass cockpit manual and the user guide in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, this all new flight-sim manual will focus on the unique needs of flight simmers by filling the gap between the minimal MSFS manual and the overly detailed official manual. Organized into six chapters and one appendix, it will explain the Garmin 1000 glass cockpit in three main ways: First, it will describe each gauge, instrument, and control item by item. Then it will explain how to use each instrument and control step-by-step. Finally, it will provide quick-reference tables for easily performing numerous tasks with the Garmin 1000 glass cockpit. It will contain more than 40 images of gauges, instruments, and controls from actual screen shots.

This manual for flight simmers is the seventh written by Bill Stack and published by TopSkills. "Glass Simming: Garmin 1000 is the most exciting new flight-sim manual since I released the first edition of Jet Simming six years ago," says author Bill Stack.

Hornet Leader PC Gets A Major Update

Staten Island, NY, January 15th, 2008 - Matrix Games (www.matrixgames.com) and Dan Verssen Games (www.dvg.com) are pleased to announce that a major new update for Hornet Leader PC is now available. This second update for the popular turn-based tactical air combat simulator includes a display performance overhaul, multiple new player requested features and fixes all known issues.

Among the improvements is a switch to a DirectX-based display system to reduce interface lag, new on-map altitude change arrows, an Abort Mission button that is always available, random pilot selection and smarter bandit AI.

David Heath, Director of Operations at Matrix Games, said "The Hornet Leader community has continued to give us great feedback and we've taken it to heart. Thanks to two months of additional development from Storm Cloud Creations and Dan Verssen Games, Hornet Leader PC is better than ever and coming your way."

Dan Verssen of Dan Verssen Games added, "We hope our community members will appreciate this free update, which polishes Hornet Leader PC further and addresses many of the top player requests since the original release. We also hope players who may be interested in Hornet Leader PC but are still on the fence will take a look at these improvements and give it a try."

In Hornet Leader PC, you command a squadron of the U.S. Navy's elite F/A-18 Hornet Strike Fighters! You select the pilots and arm the aircraft based on real-world mission briefings. Once you reach your objective, you evaluate threats, and do what needs to be done to destroy the target!

Each pilot has his own set of unique skills and abilities. With each mission, a pilot's skills increase, but so does his fatigue level. You must decide how hard to push your men as one of the many decisions that go into every mission. You will fly high intensity missions over Iraq, Libya, and North Korea from 1991 to 2007. Your weapon selection for each campaign is updated to accurately match the weapons available for that era.

We'll see you in the pilots' briefing room!

Get more information on Hornet Leader PC from its official Matrix Games webpage. This update will bring the version of the game up to 1.2 and is comprehensive.

The T-6 Texans, and their Harvard counterparts, are perhaps some of the most important and crucial aircraft in the Allied Victory of WWII. They were the cornerstones of allied training aircraft, thus earning them the nickname "The Pilot Maker." Thousands of these beautiful aircraft were produced, and over 54 nations used this aircraft. Another testament to the Texan can be found in the fact that it was one of the few WWII aircraft to see service in the Korean War. In addition, the Texan has become a very popular racing platform, earning acclaim especially in the Reno Stead Air races. SkyUnlimited Productions has taken great measures to replicate these great aircraft in the most historic and accurate fashion for your enjoyment. The Texans and Harvards are truly a Legacy of the Sky.

SkyUnlimited's Texans and Harvards have been designed with strong emphasis on realistic flying and operations. All switches, levers, and buttons have been animated and labeled. Flight information and procedures are included in the checklist, and we have done our best to make this a true "Pilot Maker" experience.
